                     MARGIE'S  CORNER

         We still don't have any oil on Southwest beaches!!!  The keys and John Pennycamp State Park is still oil free also!!  I would love to go scuba diving.  We are now into hurricane season with a vengeance!!  We made it through hurricane Earl  and there is tropical storm behind it and and a Tropical Depression behind it. There seems to be lots of storm systems coming off the coast of Africa.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that none come our way.  I hope everyone has a nice Labor Day Holiday week-end!  Eat lots of hot dogs and potato salad and be safe. 

Remember  DON'T  DRINK  AND  DRIVE !!! 

                          Joe's Trip to Ukraine

Joe and  Robert at hotel in Kiev(5) and one of the wide boulevards (6) in the city.  They also have outside markets where they sell food and other merchandise as well(1).  The churches there are beautiful. (4,7)  A lot of them  are partially paint in a light blue color and they have the golden onion topped with a cross, atop the church  spire.   One of the buildings in Kiev had what is called Chimeras (9)on it.  They are a monsters with a lion's head, goat's body and a serpent's tail.  This is not something you see in the U.S. !! The country side seems to be mostly farming.  As you can see they do still us (horse) power!(11)  On one of the farms Joe passed, he could tell they had planted a field of potatoes.(2)   Since Robert had never riden a horse, Joe decided to take him horseback ridding. (6) I never did get a report on how well they got out of bed the next morning!  All the graveyards there are decorated with ribbons and flowers on the top of the gravestones.(8) They look quite festive.  Joe came across a developers sign.(3)  On the left side was a layout of the lots and on the right was text giving information.  One couldn't make heads or tails of that side.
